The Town Hall is a thriving community center. Some people may not know that. With an active and dedicated board of directors it becomes more so every year. In a recent discussion about the mission and values of the Town Hall it’s clear that the goals remain the same- to further develop the restoration of this historic building so that it can fit the needs of all the members of our community. On top of our regular classes and programs, in November the Town Hall will be the site of a wedding, a memorial and a spaghetti feed fundraiser for the Hood River Wrestling Club. The upper valley needs a place to celebrate, to grieve, to play and to learn. We are that place.
As board member Bob Danko says “It seems to be always busy at the town hall. Our regular programs for children (New Vision School and our after school gymnastics and pottery classes) provide constant energy and activity. The adult exercise and tai chi classes and the Thursday noon dinner for seniors blend well with the kids. And, or course, the event rentals often keep the building busy on the weekends.”
So how can you tap in, if you haven’t already? Come to a fitness class (see current listings on the website calendar) or enjoy a community meal on Thursday at noon.
And if you celebrate Christmas, don’t miss our Cookies, Santa and Christmas Tree celebration on Sunday December 6th from 1:00-3:00. Hot drinks and cookies and pictures with Santa all FREE. And get your Christmas Tree at the farm behind the town hall, the proceeds will be donated to the Town Hall, so we can keep providing the programs we hope you love.
